In the warm friendly atmosphere of the Five Dials you can enjoy a great bitter brewed in the heart of the Blackdowns. The golden brown fruitiness of the real ale of Otter Bitter makes it a satisfying and enjoyable drink. Also there is Sharps’ Doom Bar brewed in North Cornwall and taking its name from the Doom Bar sandbank at the mouth of the Camel estuary. It is a dark brew full of roast malt and caramel flavours, truly real ale made without artificial additives. A guest ale is also available and we are proud of our Cask Masque accreditation as the quality of our beer is very important to us.
For those who enjoy a glass of good wine we have a wide and comprehensive selection supplied to us by Regency Wines. They are independent specialists in the licenced trade and believe in quality and provenance bringing the very best wines from around the world to Somerset.
Award winning craft ciders abound in Somerset where the soil condition and climate, otherwise known as the ‘terroir,’ are perfect for growing cider apples. Here at the Five Dials we serve two of the very best ciders, Perry’s of Dowlish wake and Burrow Hill Cider. Both cider makers make cider using 100% apple juice from apples grown on their farms in the traditional way without additives. More than 40 vintage varieties are used with wonderful names such as brown Snout, Harry Masters and Kingston Black. Burrow Hill Cider Company was the first company to distil cider to produce brandy in this country and in 1987 The Somerset Cider Brandy was established. The result is an amber liquid mellow, rich and smooth with an apple finesse. The perfect way to round off a meal.
